Portugal have now voted to allow euthanasia to help people, over the age of 18, to end their life and pass away if they are in intense suffering and with incurable diseases. They have joined only a handful of countries around the world.
Interestingly – the word comes from the Greek words “eu” (good) and “Thanatos” (death).
The law is only applicable to national and legal residents and does not include foreigners coming into the country seeking this.
The bill was approved by the Portuguese parliament four times in the last three years.
MP Isabel Moreiea says:
“We are confirming a law that has already been approved several times by a huge majority”
Do you think that this will become legal in more parts of the world?
