Wills & Probate | Unusual Will Requests & Bequeaths – Part 2

Updated: Jul 31, 2023

I wrote an article back in May 2022 about unusual Will requests and bequeaths within Wills, and I am now back with part 2…

The imaginative Will conditions and requests within my last article included:

A wife who would only inherit from her late husband if she remarries so that “there will be at least on man to regret my (the deceased husband’s) death”… a gentleman who left his fortune to 70 strangers randomly chosen out of a Lisbon phone directory… and a widow who had a single red rose delivered to her every day for the rest of her life.

My new favourite is a gentleman who left £10,000 to himself should he reincarnate in the future. I would have loved to have been the lawyer taking those instructions from the client!

Another new, and interesting, Will request surrounds a gentleman who would only allow his four grandchildren to inherit from him if they were baptized. Apparently, not all of the grandchildren were baptised (and did not want to be), despite the fact that they would inherit the sum of circa £20,000 if they were baptised.

When sure your Will is in place and make sure that all of your requests (no matter what they are!) are written correctly within the Will and your wishes clear.

Stay tuned for part 3 of this series... and contact me directly if you need your Will drafting, however eccentric or mundane your ideas and wishes...
