Review Your Will

Many people prepare their Wills or Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) once and then forget about them, thinking that the work is done and they (and their loved ones) are protected… Well, whilst it is great that you have taken the first step and prepared the relevant documents to protect yourself, your loved ones and your estate, this needs to be reviewed on a regular basis.

For example, your life may have changed (a birth, death or relationship change in the family). Your assets may have changed, or indeed the general tax legislation. There were IHT changes within the last budget which affected many people.

So long as you are agreeable to the same, we try to contact you one a year, offering a free Will (or other document, such as LPAs) review call. This is to ensure that your documents are up to date with your wishes, and they do not need to be updated.

It may be the case that they do not need updating, but it is better to be safe than sorry…

It is also as important to make sure you and your loved ones know where you have stored your Will and LPAs. In terms of your Will, there is only one original version so you need to make sure that this version is kept safe.

If you would like to discuss a Will or LPA review with a member of the team, or discuss possible storage options, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0207 183 4595 or emma.aslett@penngroup.co.uk.
